Bigjeeze Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 :rolleyes: Chaps I recently replaced the Aux belt on my wife's 97 TDI - All went well no problems. The belt has channels or grooves which match those on the pulleys. However, today I decided to look at my my MK11 TDI (115) and it appears that this is different. The belt appears to have grooves on both sides, in addition the belt routes differently. It doesn't go around the Air Con Compressor but is pressed against it. Is this right? I do have the Haynes manual but it doesn't mention this.My car is a 2001 (51) 115 TDI. Any advice gratefully received. Cheers Jeeze Quote

The fuel is pressurised up to "somewhere around the tappets" in a way that is unique to the PUMPE DEUCE engine....you need special PD oil for this engine,and pending the actual build date of your car, your cambelt change interval will be 40,000 miles, as opposed to wifey's 60,000 Quote

On another note - On the wife's 97 TDI it's coming up to 120K miles and will need the CAm belt done soon. Is there any way of finding the engine number out other than looking on the block? I have tried but it is unreadable - the engine number on the log book is just the VIN. I want to ensure I get teh correct parts nefore starting the job. :rolleyes: Cheers Jeeze Quote

The V5 should give the VIN number and the engine number separately; your local Ford dealer should be able to give you the engine number from the VIN number or the registration number - try phoning them if not convenient to call in.
